NTFS Support

Okay, I have to send my pbook in to Apple to get the screen fixed, so I want to back up my stuff. My friend lent me an external drive, but it's NTFS format. Is there ANY way to write to NTFS or at least reformat it so a file system that I could write to?

Also, if I decide to not do a complete backup, to keep my settings what would I need to backup? The home directory? Prefs?

Without access to a Windows PC there is no way to write to NTFS (you could have used a Windows PC to share it over a network and write to it then). You should be able to format the disk using Disk Utility. Note that this will destroy all the data on the drive.

I think I read on the forums somewhere that 10.3.5 and later introduced expiramental write support to NTFS drives so if you dont want to format and you have 10.3 you could try that.
