The release notes (http://www2.ati.com/drivers/ati-radeon-10-3-6-jan2005-readme.html) for an ATI driver update mention this:

Performance enhancements for games like Doom 3 and Halo 2

I wonder whether this is a typo, or inside information? After all, ALL other Bungie games have made it to the Mac :D

It will come out eventually, but not until Halo 3 hits Xbox...

After the horrible Halo 1 port, I don't think I'd want to play Halo 2 on a mac or PC...

Don't worry... Halo 2 is a terrible game... Doesn't matter if it's on the xBox, PC, or Mac. ;) Really... It sucks.

The original Halo was quite entertaining on the xBox (never played it on my Mac). Halo 2 seems tired.

If they're improving the drivers for it now, then wouldn't that mean that it's currently in the middle of being ported?

That's kinda irrelevant. The more Mac games, the better :)

I may be a "fanboy" or whatever the kids call it these days, but I too thought seemed halo 2 was tired, I mean it was nice to see more levels, etc etc, but it wasn't that interesting.

That is until I played xbox live. Somehow, playing online, with the headset made the game worth playing. I love trash talking my enemies, or coordinating with my teammates.

That said, I'd still rather play my games on my xbox than a computer, I have had more problems with my computer than I have ever had with my xbox, not to mention an xbox is cheaper than the graphics card you'd need to run the games any.

Halo 1 port? I think you've got that backwards. I thought the original halo was written as a mac game then MS bought the company and ported it to xbox and pc? Or am I thinking of something else?

I guess you could say it was ported to the xbox, but really it was practically rewritten, then ported to PC, then ported to Mac, so it's been through a lot.

I also posted this on the IMG forum, and a member replied with this:

Last I heard from the rumour mills of ole, ATI is pretty good at breaking NDAs. I'm leaning towards insider information.

Halo was originally an RTS. They started it from scratch again when they started working on it for Xbox.

Halo 2, the campaign sucked. But Live is really enjoyable, but so many gliches, this game needs patches.

I agree, the Halo 2 campaign sucked. They really should have had the whole game take place on Earth. Multiplayer is the only thing that saves it... which gets tiring after awhile. I could just play CTF on Zanzibar or whatever it's called all day and be happy... but of course you really can't play CTF on a single map with random people, only a custom game that is invite-only.

Yeah, the campaign was a dissapoinment. But Halo 2 via Xbox Live rocks.

As for ATI mentioning Halo 2...I can tell you that was probaly a typo.

Ah. Thank you for clarifying. Seems odd to rewrite it then port it back, doesn't it? All just to make it suck more on the mac I suppose.

Yep, it's all politics. Make as much money and annoy as many Mac users as possible
