macOS copy bindings from one nsmenuitem to another

I have an NSMenu that was created in IB and some of the items have bindings on them. (specifically some of them have their 'value' bound to the user default so that the tick will appear/disappear when clicked)

i have a menu that shows up in other places and i want all the menu items from the menu created in IB to show up in the new one.

I know i can't just add the item from the IB menu to the new menu so I went to just create new menu items and copy the title, action, and keyequivalent over.
but how do i copy the bindings?
