Sure, with iOS 4 it's possible. Don't know if you can use the Apple keyboard yet, but there are plenty of third-party keyboards that will work.

I don't get why you'd want an external keyboard to type on a 3 inch screen though 😱
Because sometimes I want to type emails that are sorta medium-lengthy and don't want to spend 10 minutes punching the tiny virtual keyboard on the iPhone. Also, there are more and more document apps available that could be of use. Besides, I already have one that I know works with my iPad, so I was just curious if I could use it with my iPhone too.
Wait... is anyone actually confirming/denying that you can use the Apple Wireless Keyboard with iOS4?
I was under the impression that you could use the AWK w/ the iPad, and by extension, the iPhone4 and other devices running iOS4... If no one is sure, I can check in a little bit.
