My time is fairly equally divided between my iMac and my G3 Tower, I'm going to say G3 Tower though.
I'll be getting an iBook within 12 months though so General Cybernetics can expect some business from me :)

ibook right now, 300 mhz, 160 ram, 3 gb hd
i will either get new ibook entry level next year or buy my friend's used 450 g4 tower
in either case, that will be enough power for me
if money were no object, i would buy a tibook...but i would also need a good reason for that type of power:)

hehehe yea their nice but i was thinking about
selling mine today. Actually im putting it on
ebay tonight. I can't believe a 667 with 512 of
ram cant push around a 100mb file (opened in
photoshop with layers active 400mb) . I was
using a 450mhz desktop system with the same
amount of ram and i was able to work on 1gig
files...so i thought the 667 powerbook would
be able to handle it as well...i was wrong. oh
well, now im trying to decide if i should sell
it and get a dual or just keep it and use it for
a future portable device instead of a workstation.

pretty kick butt stats...it's fair to say that the lcd imac is no longer a consumer machine
and the emac, as it evolves, is getting pretty darn close to being professional in its capabilities, too
the ibook would cross over into pro territory if it can finally get a g4 chip
and the crt imac with the g3 in it will always be the consumer machine we all remember as the one that saved apple in the late 90s and made everybody hail steve jobs as a genius again

It's a better deal if you'd rather get a Ford escort than a Mercedes. You know its not the same when comes to Mhz, right? Cuz I crush my friends's 6.0 Ghz PC's with my Cube playing Quake 3. Personally I think you're insane for choosing XP instead of Jaguar :) If it wasn't for Apple you'd still be using DOS.
I have a 500 MHz Cube with 32 MB geforce 2 GC, 60 Gb HD, 1 Gb memory hooked up to a 22" Cinema Display. I am opting for the 1.2 dual processor upgrade from Powerlogix whenever it is released - and when that happens I'll replace the HD with a 120 Gb Barracuda drive as well.
I also recently got a 1Ghz Ti - Book, with 60 Gb HD, 1 Gb memory and a 64 Mb Graphics card. This thing is a monster! :D

iMac G3 400DV Indigo, Imation external SuperDisk, Jaguar. No third party software has been (knowingly) purchased since August 2001, which is when I made the switch. Long live Apple. There is nothing the "average" computer user can't do...BETTER and easier with a mac. No crashes, no burning smells and sparks coming from the back of the unit! I may never realize all of the potential of my iMac, until I replace it with a new mac, maybe in a year or two.

scem0: I don't think you're going to get a lot of value for your extra 2GHz. Pentium 4's waste a lot of clock on their extra-long pipeline. Used Cubes are high right now; my guess is it's collectors running the price up. TAMs are going for $1000 or more, with 100MHz 601's in them; 6100's with equivalent processors sell for $20 or less.

When I'm explaining to someone, for the millionth time, why you can't just pick the highest MHz rating while ignoring what processor you are talking about, the following quote from that review will be handy to keep in mind:
Many tests show that Macs have superior performance to Pentiums/Athlons with three times the MHz rating.
Saying "Triple the G4's MHz when comparing to a Pentium" wouldn't be precisely accurate, but it's just the kind of "rule of thumb" that will give people the right idea. Thanks!
Hey, maybe we should just make up a new term, MacinHertz (MacHz), which is equal to three times megahertz.

Well one year later I still have the DP 1Ghz Quicksilver, the Blue & White G4/500, but sold the TiBook/500 and bought a 1Ghz TiBook, Airport Base station and Applecare.
The QS now has 3- 120GB HD's and the original 80GB HD.
I'm still on Jaguar 10.2.8 because I need to replace the Sonnet Temp ATA/66 card due to incompatibility with Panther. At least that's what the Sonnet site says.
I'm also thinking of putting a Gbit ethernet card in Old Blue to use a local server, and installing a Pioneer DVD-R. This way when I complete a project I can send it to Old Blue to output it to whatever format necessary and free up my workstation.
Any recommendations on ethernet cards?

Hehe that link is old news though. The reference to the 1.7 P4 was in Intel's dark days of the Williamette (which was beaten by their very own P3's, and lower clocked, back int he day).
Here's an example of the difference between a Williamette and a Northwood (A):
http://www.hwextreme.com/reviews/processor/intel_2aghz/images/b3.gif
And i doubt that the 800G4, while showing more MTOPS is "faster" than a 2ghz Athlon.
MTOPS, in its own dimension, is flawed. If someone thinks that based on MTOPS alone that the old 800G4 is going to "in general", "faster" than the 2ghz Athlon XP, they are horribly mistaken.
The website also fails to specifiy the FSB of the athlon--Is it a 133fsb 2000+ (the palomino), is it a thoroughbred 2400+ whose true clock is 2.0ghz? Or is it the Barton 2800+ (2.08ghz) with 200fsb?
The MTOPS comparison itself falls in its own hypocrisy against the Megahertz myth. Yes, in general megahertz cannot be taken as a general indicator since the p3 tualatin or old school slot A athlon days ended, but stretching it to something as ludicrous as three-fold (especially in AMD comparisons, with its current clock per clock efficient athlon64/opteron models) is comical. Maybe the dual 800 G4 can also equal a single Opteron 248? After all, 800 * 3 = 2400 -_- (well its close enough to 2.2ghz)
Isn't it also problematic that there are 3 dual CPU systems on that chart for the Apple side and not a single dual cpu system for the PC side? Where are the opteron and xeon comparisons?
*sorry for that tangent*
Now, my parents did have a very very old skl Mac when i was 5 or 6, so i technically didn't own it. And unfortunately, i have no idea what model it was. All i remember doing was playing with the Apple puzzle game and the Apple "tone" everytime it was turned on. (end nostalgic memory).
This looks pretty close to it:
