Hi
iMac G4 17", 1.25Ghz, 2GB ram, 250 gig HD, what games are compatible with this old PPC, I've tried machinarium which runs but is a bit choppy at points so I'ts a no go with the flash games.

Thanks in advance

What kind of games do you want to play? Here are a few I remember playing quite nicely on slower machines than yours.

Red Faction
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Star Craft I
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2

Terra
There's also:

Oni (first OS X commercial game, don't know how well it runs on later OSes)
Giants: Citizen Kabuto (I've run it under Leopard, YMMV)
Knights of the Old Republic (has speed issues on Dantooine, poor port)
Jedi Knight (Dark Forces III)
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Academy
Max Payne
Halo
Aquaria (new game, runs perfectly fine on my 1.5 GHz PBG4)

There's also console emulation for NES, Genesis, SNES, etc (N64 and up is too much for a computer of your speed in my experience) if you already own the games. If you have some old DOS games, you can play most of them in DOSBox.

This thread is brilliant. I just put world of goo on my boy's 700mhz iMac g4 and so far it seems perfect.

I'm sorry I can't think of any games myself, but I'd love to hear of more.

Scummvm works really well - so that covers almost all point&click adventures up to Monkey Island 3.

Also, I really wanted to get lemmings working on my Son's G4. There are a few clones and ports, but none of them are as good as the original amiga version. Fortunately, E-UAE (amiga emulator) runs great on the 700mhz PowerPC imac, and lemmings is pretty much perfect.

The following indie games (that haven't already been mentioned) work very well...

VVVVVV
Osmos
Gish
Samorost2

Yes, Samorost2, like machinarium, is a bit slow. It's certainly playable, but the other three games that I listed run much better.

Nice that world of goo plays on these older machines. Will have it installed on my PowerBook then. I had it bought for my MBOP but the the logic board died.

Also i would reccomend:
Age of empires 1+2
Age of Mythologies
Call of duty 2

At least these are the last gsames i remember playing on my PB:) And emulators

Sacrifice

one of best games EVER created you can play amazingly well with great graphics detail that is almost on par with the current trends.
