View Full Version : Help - Digital Picture Frame and Macs?

Help. I am looking for a Digital Picture Frame (An electronic liquid crystal display 4x6 or 5x7) powered preferably by batteries.

I want to create an iPhoto album and dump it to the picture frames internal memory.

I want the frame to have an automatic slide show if possible.

I also want it to be easy to use - off/on, replace batteries

I have had a scan around but can't seem to find what I am after that works with a Mac. I would be happy to dump jpegs to a memory card if thats my only option.

Does anyone have any experiences with this stuff?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks. I did some more looking and also found this http://www.edgetechcorp.com/store/Products/Digital-Picture-Frame-plus-MP3-Player.htm which looks a bit cheaper.

But none of these seem to take batteries! Damn.

But none of these seem to take batteries! Damn.Yeah... I think you're gonna find that none of this type of device will run on batteries, because they'd burn through them so quickly. Even a laptop with a double-duration lithium ion battery (which costs $$$) is only going to run a few hours... and an LiIon battery holds a LOT more juice than AAs or Cs. The battery lifespan on an illuminated LCD screen would be perilously short.

I suppose thats right noting my Palm T2s battery life.

Well apart from Mac compatability, I also need to figure out if any of these will work in both Australia and the UK with appropriate adapter plugs - or will the increased voltage kill them...

These died a horrible death in most retail stores. They are a great idea, but not much real interest. They should be cheap by now,

Yep, they were too expensive and tried to do too many things I think. Basic display images every 3/4 secs would make an excellent basic model.
