I've searched and found some help out there, but nothing has solved my problem. I was hoping to see if anyone can help.

I've got a Powerbook PowerPC G4 running 10.5.8. I have a flash drive that was working fine for a while. My g/f was using it on an Intel Mac and it was fine. She gave it to a friend who also had an Intel mac but the friend couldn't see it. My g/f tried it on her computer again, no dice.

I've put it into my computer it doesn't show up.

I opened System Profiler, and it's there. So I opened Disk Utility and tried to mount it. DU suggested I try to repair it first. I tried. I got this notice:

could not read boot block (input/output error)
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed.

I tried erasing (MS-DOS FAT). I got this error:

Disk Erase failed
Disk erase failed with following error:
Input/output error

What, if anything, can I do to salvage the drive? (I have long given up on the data.) If there's something I can do, can I do it w/o a PC or Linux machine?

Thanks.
