Changed mighty mouse batteries, no it cant reconnect

Changed my mice's batteries as they were low with fresh new ones. The green light on the mouse stays solid for a few seconds then it flashes twice every half second. Tried new batteries and the same thing happened. Luckily I have a spare but I need to fix this mouse but how?
 
Are the batteries fully charged?

Have you checked System Preferences> Mouse> Set up bluetooth mouse?
