iMovie on an a Power PC

Just got a Mac PowerPC G5 and was looking to download my avchd video to imovie so i could edit there.

Got a message that says avchd format will only work on intel macs... is there anything i can download or add on to make imovie work?

It looks like any version older than what just came out (which is Intel only) does not have native support for it. Not even Final Cut Express or Pro 6 will do it. You need Final Cut Pro 7 to edit them without conversion. Toast or Handbreak will convert them into an editable file though.
