AVI's & iMovie - Problems....

I have a Canon digital that will also take small movie files, which are in AVI. I have loaded these onto my iBook directly from the camera and can play them in Quicktime, but iMovie will not load the clips. Is there a converter I can use so I can get these clips into iMovie?

I've looked all over for an answer to this, but still no luck. Anyone have any suggestions??

I've looked all over for an answer to this, but still no luck. Anyone have any suggestions??If you can play the video in the QuickTime player, then you should be able to convert it using QuickTime Pro.
