I am looking to get TV Tuner to hook up to my Mac mini (2009). I am looking at the Elgato EyeTV 250 Plus. However, I see so many TV Tuner choices from Elgato, I am not sure if the EyeTV 250 Plus is the only one that I should be looking at. I would appreciate some input from others. My provider is Cablevision, if that helps.

I looked into Equinux TV Tuners, however, I feel they are dated. Could I be wrong?

I have the WinTV 950Q hooked up to my mac mini, and use Elgato TV.

The EyeTV plus with software is $200.
The Software alone is only $80.

I paid $80 for the software and bought the Nero Liquid TV (which included the WinTV 950Q ) for $40, kept the tuner and sold the rest of the nero bundle (which had 1 year of tivo), for $30...

So total out of pocket was $90. Even if you don't sell the nero stuff, you will only be out $120 instead of $200. Also you will be able to take it with you and use on a laptop when you are away from home etc.
