According to an article at macworld.com, the Mac mini's ram is user upgradeable without voiding the warranty.
"contrary to rumors around the Internet, Apple has told Macworld that you can even do it yourself without voiding your warranty “unless you break something when you open it.”)

That is the same quote, from the same Mac manager as before.
When it shows up as a user installable item at Apple's official Customer Installable Parts (http://www.info.apple.com/usen/cip/) section you'll know for sure.
Right now, all we have is Apple telling people to use an authorized tech.

its a decent article. I like the chart comparing the Mac mini to the 'cheaper' Dell. Points out facts that should be known that say PCs are still cheaper.

It is the "breaking" portion of the statement that bothers me. I mean I understand breaking the board lets say. But to deny warranty status for broken teeth?

Gee thanks for the help there.
Given the number of Mac Mini threads, and concerns about the warranty, there are many posts to filter through. If you happen to know of the particular location (message # maybe in that thread); that would have been a better help for some of us that still have trouble (even after a year of being here) searching MR.

MR search needs to be googlized. Is that even a word?

Mac Mini FACTS: Warranty not voided (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=104947)
I also looked at Apple Support, and they are waiting for Apple to update the CIP List and the Developer Docs.
They don't seem satisfied that a nameless Apple Employee says it's ok -- when Apple seems to indicate otherwise in some of their documents.

Thanks for the thread, have seen this one already.
You raise some valid points. And that is why I asked about broken "teeth" and warranty repairs. Many companies look at that as tampering, even though no other damage is done to the actual hardware.

I think you posted something on that, Chip NoVaMac....
Linkety to search (http://forums.macrumors.com/search.php?searchid=1029714) that I did. I didn't find it too hard.
And you can already search MR via google. Just type in what you want to search for, and then "site: www.macrumors.com"

So I'm guessing that the Mac Mini uses regular PC333 DIMMs right? not SODIMMs like the i/powerbooks?

Thanks, yes I have been to most of the Mac mini threads. But issue is with this thread and the info given. Maybe in scanning through I have missed the answer to my question:
Does broken teeth on the Mac mini case void the warranty? Maybe someone that works for an authorized center can chime in?
