I have a Powerbook G4 800mhz with 10.3.7.

I have an airport card (non-extreme).

Will my computer work with an extreme base station?

Can I buy an extreme airport card for the powerbook? I heard that ibooks and other G4's under 1g can't use the extreme airport card.

Thanks!

extreme and reqular airport cards are physically different in shape. so if your port is for extreme, it won't accept the regular card and vice versa.

extreme basestation can handle regular airport.

Ti PB only takes regular airport. Al PB only takes extreme.

a PCMCIA card which is natively comp. with 10.2.8 + and is b/g compatible.

Gigadesigns and Sonnet both sell one (linksys used to, but hard to find, they changed chipsets).

I am using a Gigadesigns in my Wallstreet running Panther and it works perfectly (no drivers needed) and great range.

As long as you don't put the base station into 802.11g-only mode, it will work. If I remember correctly (from when I set mine up), by default it handles both 802.11b and g.
