iDVD burning question

I'm about to buy a PB and have a question about iDVD. I believe I read somewhere that iDVD requires a Superdrive. Is this true? I already have a external dual layer. Would I not be able to create a DVD using iDVD and burn it with the external drive?

Up to iLife 04, iDVD wasn’t able to burn to external drives without some kind of hack. I’m not sure about the new version, but I know that it supports writing to an image, so you could do this and burn later using Toast or anything.
