When ever I hear people talk graphic upgrades for Powermac G5's, it's usually in relation to video editing or games. Is this the only application of them, or can they improve the overall general quality of the screen, i.e for watching DVD's and photograhy editing.

For older machines (early G4s, G3s) graphics updates will help speeding up the whole system. For G4s there isn't much to gain for anything except gaming and 3d.

If you have a G5 there is no need to upgrade to get better DVD and system performance. Maybe OSX 10.4 tiger will give better performance with an upgraded videocard.

As for picture quality it won't get better with a faster card.
