I plugged a projector into my macbook air and after unplugging, the entire desktop will not fit on the screen of the MBA no matter what resolution. I have to drag the cursor to top, bottom or side to see what is not shown. The resolution is set at 1440x990 in display preferences. New to Mac to be gentle...

1440x900 is the native res, not 990. Not sure if that's just a typo on your end :)

Anyway the only other thing I can think of is the ctrl+scroll up/down to zoom feature. Great for zooming in on something in particular on screen, but you get the issue of scrolling around as you are cropping parts of the desktop. I use it when there's no fullscreen option on videos and things of that nature.

That did it!!!

Thanks a lot... The control scroll was the issue... I thought a reboot would wipe that out... Apparently not...
