Whats the best Wide Screen 20"-21" lcd that is not the apple 20" cinema and that is less than the Apple 20" edu price(899$)? Thanks!

Dell 2001fp or 2005fpw, 20" and 20" widescreen, respectively. I am running the 2005 as we speak and its great with my 12" PB. You can get it for between $450 (what I paid) and $600 if you keep your eye on the coupons that come and go. The widescreen runs the same resolution as the Apple display as well (1680x1050).

I am pretty sure there are a few threads about this very topic already, however....

A good bet is to look at the Dell monitors. I am viewing by way of a 2001FP currently (20.1 non-wide). Dell pseudo-recently released a 2005FP which is the 'same' 20.1" screen in a wide-aspect. Actually, the model is the 2005FPW (did not know they added the W but it makes sense, way to go Dell 😛)

Current Home/Home Office price is around $750 USD but if you can get a student discount that can save you more, or check between Home and Business stores as the promos vary. Just keep checking and read up in some deal forums and sites, Dell stuff always gets cheaper and cheaper.

So is the general consensus the dell 2005fpw? I have another question too.

what do you suggest I do If I have a powerbook and PC in terms of using the dell 2005fpw? will I have to unplug one to use the other and vise versa? Thanks

also, where can I find one of these 25% off coupons? and not ebay, cuz I feel that paying for a coupon is stupid.

No contest. Read the reviews on the Viewsonic VP201b 21". I've never seen a better screen for 833.00.

Definitely take a look at the Sony SDM-S204B 20.1" LCD monitor... $779 from Amazon.com, but you may be able to find it for even less. I had one of its predecessors (the SDM-X202B, before I upgraded to a 23" monitor) and it was EXCELLENT... no dead pixels, 3 year warranty, analog and DVI-D support.

P.S.: Post #100 for me!

The Viewsonic monitor is only $713 at newegg.com, just so you guys know. Nice deal if I say so myself.

Don't forget the last generation Apple 20" monitors going for $799 which is a steal. Resolutions are just as crisp as the new versions and they look fantastic. Get em while they last!
