I've heard that there is extreme demand for the iPod shuffles.
I bet you need to wait three~four weeks before you get in your hands... ;)

I hope you can find one soon ! :)

False. Apple learned their lesson with the iPod Mini fiasco, and it's my understanding that Apple has stockpiled huge numbers of iPod Shuffles in anticipation of huge demand.

Still have enough space on it, not sure if I need to buy another iPod until I see a 6 or 7G. :)

Also do not need an iPod Photo, its overpriced IMHO. :)

iPod Mini here. I won't get another iPod until I see a 10gig Mini that'll let me import pictures from my digital camera and view them on a color screen. Hopefully by the time Apple gets there, I'll also be there financially :)

Um, not quite false. According to Apple, there is a three to four week wait period. This is almost what the mini was at.

Yeah. That's why my iPod shuffle order (that I made the day after the keynote) says it will be shipped "on or before February 15th".

There's still a long wait, guys.

Oh, and this is to go with my 1G 5GB iPod, and my 38 GB music collection. So whoever said the shuffle wasn't for real music lovers might want to rethink that statement ;)

I use my iPod almost everyday, of course not at home but I travel from monday to friday 1.5 hours by train, not everyday I open my iBook just for music, the photos are a nice add-on if you have a beamer on your desk at work. ;) or you think about the children while traveling , when I'm at work I listen music directly from my iBook, I tell you, I listen music at least 8 hours/day.

3ed Gen 20 gb iPod, been used a lot over the last week to sync with iCal pointing me to where my new classes are and telling me my schedule. Only got 4 GB left on it, but there is a 3-4 gB OS on there as well that I'll delete sometime before the first half of 2005 ends. ;)

Had a 30G iPod, loved it, but gave it away to a lad suffering from depression...music does help apparently.

Unfortunately, it was the start of my iPod withdrawal symptons though :), but the music scattered on the Macs around the house helped. I did try using the PowerBook as an iPod on a short hop flight, but that was a bit OTT. The iPod shuffle comes tomorrow, assuming TNT can find me, and I'll be back in business again.....can't wait, already got the Sony Fontopia's ready :D

An original 15gb iPod, w/o AppleCare (alas!), that is still going strong though I've used but one-fifth for songs.

If it ever gives out, I probably would upgrade to an iPod mini as the flashRAM version would have to be a non-random-player for my tastes.

I've had my little green mini since February '04, and I love it, hoping it will last me another two years (500 charge cycles ≈ charging every other day for almost three years). After that I'll get a shuffle (or something similar, who knows what Apple may release in the mean time). I got all my music organized on my iBook, and the shuffle really meets all my demands for a portable music player.

Before I got my clickwheel 20G last summer, I used to make a cd almost every week just to listen in the car. I have a Sony MP3 CD unit in my car and I thought that was cool cuz I can put songs in albums and stuff. But now with my iPod, its so much easier and faster to make new albums and playlists. Has anyone gotten the 12 hours promised by Apple on their iPod yet? I can't seem to get past 8. Maybe its cuz I use it in my car and I always have the backlight on.

What's the best way to listen to music while talking (and hugging, kissing etc. ) with your wife? None other than using the ipod connected to your hi-fi, and turn on the shuffle mode. If your mood changed during the conversation, you can always switch to a different playlist (to romantic songs if you want something more, or hard rock if you're in a rage) in a few seconds. :D :D :D

with an ipod, you can borrow ripped tunes from your friend (those that have CDs to lend you might probably had done so). That's easier, and your friend won't chase after you for return of the CDs. ;)

I started off with the ORIGINAL (hidden game and all, moving wheel) 5gb iPod. Got upgraded when it broke (Folder with exclamation point, go figure). Had the 10gb, upgraded to 20gb. Currently on a 40, which broke during Winter Break (Folder error, again) so I got it replaced, where it broke a week later (Folder error, thank you very much). I've had the folder error more times than I can remember. By the way. my 40gb is full, so if anybody would care to send me a 60gb iPod photo, that would be greatly appreciated :D :D :D

Don't have one...

But goddamn I want one.

My mother won't let me get one because $400 is alot of cash just for a little music player. "You already have a portable CD player." "I don't see what's so great about it."

Not to mention that I still have a little tweaking left to do on my iTunes library...album art to upload, albums to correct, etc.

Have you approached your mother about a iPod mini? Or maybe she would be accepting of the new iPod shuffle, it's always worth a try. Your could tell her how compact it is and can be worn on person. Much less risk of loss or damage.

My iTunes library is currently at 20GB. (About 20.37) So both the Shuffle and the Mini are out of the question. And obviously I broke the 20GB barrier, so I'd have to get the 40GB model.

So...yeah.

I have a $50 gift card for CompUSA I was going to put towards the iPod, so that'd bring it down from $400 to $350.

The 1gb Shuffle will be a replacement for my current tiny thumb drive, as well as my first iPod. The battery life looks good and I have needed and excuse to get a portable media player. I just wish that all iPods had some sort of bookmark feature. It would make listening to audio books much easier.

I am glad Apple is so quick to deliver the new iPod. I like how they changed the delivery date. Waiting makes me happy. I sometimes wonder why I don't just cancel my order and get some other kind of flash player. But I am willing to wait, as I am a member of the Cult of Apple.

I was one of the first geeks to have an iPod in London. Got stopped all the time by people asking about it. A London Underground worker stopped me one day and was so gutted when he told me he'd just bought a Creative CD-Discman sized player but wished he'd got an iPod. I felt his pain!

Now have a 4G 40GB, defintely the best one I've had, if only for the vastly improved power managment. I can now leave it in my coat pocket for a few days and be confident it will have some juice left. My 1st Gen would die left in that state all too soon.

Have also bought a few iPod minis on behalf of others. Made a 16 year old girl's Christmas last month when her father couldn't track one down in London for hide nor hair! I'm such an altruist ;)

I gave my brother an iPod for Christmas in 2003. But I never really considered buying iPod for myself before, even though they're gorgeous. My only on-the-go listening is on the commuter train in the morning & evening, where I've used a Panasonic AM/FM thingie for a couple of years. Well, no more radio - my iPod Shuffle was delivered last Tuesday. It's terrific. It's a little beauty, and it suits my needs perfectly.

I actually have two. A 20 gig connected to my truck stereo and a blue Mini I use when I work out.

Have a silver mini. I bought a 512MB shuffle at my local Apple store, but gave it to my mom. I have another one on order from Amazon for myself.

I own a 4G 20GB iPod. With good playlist management, I can have about 3,500 songs on it and still have a few gigs of space for file storage, which I use often. I won't ever get a Shuffle because I have a small MP3 player (iRock 256mb) for extreme workouts - though I love the Shuffle. I won't ever buy another iPod until it can do quicktime movies. That way I can put all my movies of my daughter on there and share them via TV with my family back home. That's when it would be worth it for me to reinvest in one. I think iPod is the greatest technical innovation since the bread slicer! :)

If you’re looking for a portable way to show your movies to your family, why not buy a Mac Mini? That’s pretty much just as easy to take over to a friend or family member’s place as an iPod – and it’s your entire system! ;)

I'd love one. How 'bout you send me that check for $599 and I'll run right out and get one. ;) Just kiddin'! But seriously, my wife (the money boss, even though I make most of it) says it's not gonna happen. She wants to hold out for the dual 3ghz G5 (I am a power user). So I'm not complaining about waiting. The mini would be a nice second system (or actually 4th counting my two current systems). I bet they'll add quicktime support to the iPod photo in the next year though.

Hope you are a patient man - that DP 3.0 GHz G5 might be a little ways in the future still! Let's keep our fingers crossed for WWDC...

I play my MP3s from an SD card in my Tungsten T3. I thought about a 1 gig Shuffle, quite like it, but I can get a 1 gig SD card for the Palm for less and have all the extra things non of the iPods have - bluetooth, big colour screen, photo and video, voice recording without an add on etc etc etc . . .

Don't get me wrong I love Apple after all I've got a 2 gig dual G5, a G4 iBook, and G3 iMac, a Beige G3 and a 23" display. . .

But I wouldn't want to hang a Tungsten T3 around my neck and go jogging :)

I've got a Tungsten as well and have played music on it, but the shuffle is so easy to turn on and off, skip tracks, turn volume up/down. That, for me, is the beauty of the thing. I'm finding myself using it more than my 60Gb iPod!

Hey, I wouldn't want to actually go jogging :) but I am tempted by the shuffle and will probably succumb.

Just bought an IPOD Shuffle 1G and love it. Really is a great item for people who are wanting an MP3 or other audio device to run/bike/work out with. I also love the fact that the volume on the device can really put out some dB, unlike other divices I have used where they are set to max volume at all times just so you can hear the music. Also use it for data transfers like a USB stick.

I probably will get a few for my family and friends as well.

Thumbs up.

I have had no issues with the ITunes software either. I was a bit worried I would have to do some troubleshooting when first pugging in the Shuffle.

I'm with topperdog. Love the 1 GB iPod shuffle. Actaully makes me more interested in going to the gym (which always helps...). Have bought it for friends (and am waiting for it to arrive long long after Valentine's Day :( ).
