What is the difference between Prey (which is free at preyproject), and Hidden, which is usually $20, and other similar programs that charge that much or more plus a subscription?

I suggest you repost with a title that indicates specifically what your question is about.
Your title could be about the difference between any subjects,and certainly isn't going to jump out at someone who knows about the apps you mentioned. I looked at it out of idle curiosity, not everyone will.

I am not sure if this is the same app that you mentioned but if it is it's free until January at http://hiddenapp.com
Yep, that's it. I saw it on another site (cough-TUAW-Cough) and wondered why anyone would pay $20 for it when Prey was free and they sound like they do the same things.
Update: Hidden's promo has inundated them and they have pulled it.
