Got ATV2 for a Christmas present today. I was all excited until I found out my TV doesn't seem to work with ATV2. I have an older Panasonic HDTV. It does have an HDMI connector but it looks like it is restricted to 1080i and 480p. Any suggestions or am I taking the ATV2 back to the Apple Store tomorrow?

Maybe that hdmi port is bad, or the cable. You can buy a used tv. Depending on the size of your current tv you could probably get a sweet computer monitor of the same size with hdmi for cheaper then a new tv.

1080i or 480p? Strange for a HD TV..

I'm sure the ATV has a option for 480p to 720p on the resolution settings, have you tried another port or other cable?

The TV is about 5 years old. It is a huge tube Panasonic (32"). It only has one HDMI port. The cable is a brand new Apple HDMI cable and is the only one I have.
