I thought I might try here first since my field is video, not recording bands.

I have a zoom H2 and a seinhausser G3 wireless. While shooting my last video, I used both with mixed results. I feel that the biggest part inhibiting my audio quality is the "noise floor" or all that annoying hiss. I use soundbooth to reduce the noise, but that always comes with an audio hit.

THE QUESTION:
how do I test which device has less noise?
Do I max the gain then do a test?
Do I use both to get the same levels in logic, then amp up the gain in post to see which has worse noise?

i use osx 10.6.3, logic 8, fcp 7 & cs5.
