The Best Buy protection plan is supposed to replace the iPod for any reason that it fails. However, it usually must be purchased along with the iPod. Apple Care, is the protection from Apple, that covers hardware defects for two years. Apple Care does not protect against accidental damage. Apple Care can be purchased within one year of the purchase of the iPod.
