THANK GOD THEY ARE DOING MOUNTAIN DEW CODE RED!!! Also Apple's web page has updated to reflewct, GAME ON!!! Let's get over 5 million winners this time. Also, please start shipping to Dallas texas now please, specifically Denton. I want some more free songs to go with the $60 of gift certificates I accumulated over X-mas and a free drawing at the premiere of the mac mini.

... and as last time, they're only putting the iTunes caps on 20oz and 1L bottles. The sizes that you only find in quickie-marts and gas station stores.
Cans, 24oz and 2L bottles (what you find on the shelves of grocery stores and in vending machines) are not going to have any winners.
Which means that people like me, who don't buy stuff from gas station mini-marts, will never have a chance of winning.

What I want to know is this - was the decision to limit the winning caps to those bottle sizes made by Pepsi, by Apple, or by both companies? Also, what was their reasoning behind this decision?

Yellow cap pepsi bottles are in the New Orleans area. Today I bought 12 bottles and so far my first 3 are winners. :D

It's my understanding that this entire promo is Pepsi-sponsored, so it's probably their decision. Just like it's their decision to not put the caps on other Pepsico products, like Dr. Pepper.
As for why? They probably want to steer customers towards those sizes. Possibly to help out the stores that typically sell them (e.g. quickie-mart stores). I doubt they have any problem selling product via vending machines and grocery stores.
I don't like the decision, but I think I understand it.

Actually, Dr. Pepper is distributed by Pepsi in about 30% of the country, 30% by Coke, and the rest by other bottlers, so I don't think that Pepsi can make that kind of decision.

I can confirm that South Florida has got their fair shipment of the yellow-capped pepsi's. I noticed them in a couple local grocery storys, and I picked up a winning one ;)
