nah... you guys can search the archives too... you can find some interesting stuff from a year ago.

Macrumor started in Feb 2000... but the previous comment system was pretty primitive.... it wasn't until 2001 when the forums were put up. At that time, I moved everyone over from the old system to vBulletin.

That's why there are a bunch of members with the same join date.

ha, that's a trip - I was actually thinking of going back and looking at all the top posters first post last week! You beat me too it :(

Its pretty simple, just select the profile of the member, then when the new window pops up, select 'view all posts by this member' in the top right of the window and then go to the last page.

Yeah, I registered in November, but it took me a while to get around to posting, lurking and watching. I was getting married in December and had a ton of freelance going at the time, so I really didn't have much time available.

Ah, yes the '100 Mega Ton Rumor Bomb' - I liked that - and it was appropriate, I still don't get Apple's whole hyping the rumors thing, it was very weird - I wonder if they'll ever do that again.

I'll do you one better. I saved the whole 80+ posting war with spikey and joey j going back to late 2001, printed out the little flamewar as a 40 page thesis, and gave it to a classmate to read over the (past) weekend. I also saved a few of the escalates with spikey and Xg5 for amusement. :p

I realize I am not arn, but you can still view other's post count by looking at the profile of a member, as well as your own profile (click on the username). They were removed from beside each poster in a thread when a great deal of immaturity was displayed on the forums by many of the registered members, in regard to this status, that status, "I only have this many posts left to ###, let me spam my way..." It was chaos.

We also had that ************* troll Hitormiss on the boards for a day before he was removed. And we had samdweck for a few escalades as well. Amazing he got away with over 240 posts in three days before he got his rear end kicked out the door and have the lock shut and bolted.

I figured it was for the "crap" posts that I saw around this time last year. There was a thread about MWSF last year when Apple was teasing us with those headlines and about 3 guys were posting every 10 seconds-just 1 line crap posts trying to get the numbers up.

I can't believe you copied all of that off. I actually wouldn't mind seeing that. Before I came to these boards, I was a regular at the MacAddict boards. It got a little too stupid there and thank God I found this place. There was an intersting guy at MA though. A troll named Russ. He was fun...

Gus

when i was a kid in northern california, vacuum tube data processing machines the size of gyms were worth tens of millions

...then as a teenager, there was the apple I, then in the mid to late 80s, the personal computer in the apple II/mac and pc models came about

but now, in 2003 and later, the personal computer will be threatened by pda (mini computer) sales

...and in a few years, the top sellers, by unit, will be the pda/cell phone units...progress moves forward

i used to hate pda's thinking they were yuppie symbols but just like the cell phone is no longer a symbol of doctors and/or drug dealers, the pda is no longer just a yuppie accroutement

all you people who hate the idea of an apple pda will be the first ones to buy one when sj announces something so cool, you won't be able to resist

I don't hate pda's. I hate how everyone just always hyped up the Apple PDA and nothing really happened. I would definately buy a Apple PDA when it comes out again.

I believe it was I who led the crusade against the Apple PDA...but I gave it up...became a suicide cause...

I remember my first post here, so long ago... but then I already had a stupid thread about it, so I'll just say some of the first posts are very interesting. With some of these starts, I'd never have guessed most you would become regulars... just to fade into the mists like "iboy" and "gocyrus" (well okay, he went out with a bang, but still, he's not around any more :p)I think I'll stop rambling on now.

Sorry, Eye, but I do remember you not liking the PDA threads. Yep, been the receiver of several burns from you about it in the past. Ahh, what great fun! ;)

Gus
