I know I could probably buy Retrospect to automatically backup my data to a separate partition, but is there any other way? I would like /Library, /Users, and my downloads directories automatically backed up to a separate partition. What are other ways to do this besides Retrospect?

Thanks!

SuperDuper! will do it IIRC - don't have the link handy. I'm not sure if it does scheduling in its unregistered variety - but it is only $20 so not bad.

Thanks! I'll look into those. Also, is there any way to do what I want using cron?

Synk 5 will do this too.

I tried Synk for a while, but had problems with the scheduler stopping for no reason. I switched to Chronosynk which has been working very well.

FYI, backing up to another partition on the same physical drive will not do any good if the drive fails. Make sure you backup to another drive.
