So I'm sure you have some old, obsolete, or vintage Macs lying around! (If not why are you posting in this section? :p).

Why not show off your pride and joy? Take a pic or a video of your old Macs or Apples in action! Explain what you use them for today (if anything) or how they're still useful, or how you'd like to use them. This should be fun. :D

I have a few photos I'll upload when I get home, but currently I have a G4 QuickSilver tower at my parent's place. I find it's Zip drive makes it ideal for dealing with old Macs, especially when I have a surplus of SCSI Zip drives and disks. Makes an OS install easy without using a CD-ROM. :) I used this method to install 7.6 on my Mac Color Classic and PowerBook 180 not long ago. Great for transferring files too if the Mac doesn't have a network card.

I use a G3 iMac here and there at my NJ home to play some older games, however I recently got a Pismo PowerBook G3, which is faster than the iMac & more portable. So I've been using that to play games like Gridz and The Sims. Come to think of it I should play the Sims on the G4 iBook, it crashed on my Intel iMac oddly enough.

Below is a photo of my Color Classic from a few years back, I plugged in all the old accessories to it and it worked pretty well, just a tad slow. :)

Here is my original Macintosh acting as serial terminal for my Itanium server:

Yup, that is its primary function in life - serial terminal. The Apple IIc next to it is primarily used to play old games.

Here is my recently purchased 17" iMac G4. It's actually my main Mac right now, and I have a newer HP laptop with Windows 7 that does everything else. I plan on upgrading the iMac soon with a new HD, optical drive, and fully upgraded to 1GB of RAM. Maybe Leopard one day...

I sold my G4 iMac to buy my 13" MBP in 09. Seeing these pics reminds me how beautiful in design that model was.

My beloved Power Macs, not particularly "antique" but fairly old enough to warrant the vintage moniker :D

Dual 1.8Ghz G5 sitting sideways, then a 1.6Ghz G5 under it. Quicksilver G4 933mHz on the bottom with a G4 400mHz, all running Leopard 10.5.8 except for the latter, rocking Panther  (backup system now)

I do have a 2009 Macbook Pro 13", but nothing can compare to the design and internals of those mammoth G5's....and all are surprisingly snappy for day to day tasks (iMovie runs exceptionally well on my Dual, 3GB RAM and an nVidia 6800 Ultra DLL :D)

No pictures, but I've been using my old Cube for a few days now. A fine machine for being 11-ish years old and running a modern OS. My Al 07 iMac's hard drive decided to die. So instead of using my Blackbook, I'm using my Cube. (I so miss YouTube...)

YouTube shouldn't have a problem depending on what CPU you have. Try downgrading your Flash Player (look it up online,) as older versions of Flash run MUCH better than the newer ones on older hardware.

Even though it has a 1.5Ghz upgrade, it still runs poorly (I like the HD stuff). I've tried Flash 9, 10, 10.1, and 10.2b. The best thing so far is the HTML 5 beta in Safari. No matter, I've been getting by on my iPhone.

Not mine, and sorry but it's not in action...

...But I have one of these with 1GB memory, 2x 80GB hard drives, USB 2.0 card, 802.11g card, 10.4.11, and it's jumpered up to the highest mHz it would run.

I love the thing, but it's loud, and it surfs the web like a drunken turtle. What can I say, it was my first Mac.

Download MacTubes. You can watch YouTube all day long and even download the videos to your hard drive if you please. Really helped me on my old iMac. Make sure to change the player to play videos using Quicktime and not flash, and you're in good shape.

That's what the HTML 5 beta setting plays them as in Safari. It works fairly well, but it crashes on some of the longer videos.

Hmmm I never knew that, might have to check that out. Right now the machine is running so low on RAM I'm scared to even type YouTube in the browser. MacTubes runs extremely well and hasn't even crashed on me, but the HTML setting is more convenient.

Oldest Mac i've got setup for use is my Power Macintosh 8600/200 for analog to DV video conversion. Its got 480MB of RAM in it, a 333MHz G3 processor, USB & FireWire PCI cards, and an iX Micro Twin Turbo graphics card. Cables are a mess because I'll pop in another system every now and again to use the monitor and keyboard. The compact Macs under the desk are a Macintosh Classic and a Classic II under the dust cover.
