Hi,
Which is a better solution as a DAW workstation (running vsts/softsynths [reaktor]+live or cubase)? The iB+PM would be a tad more expensive but I guessed longer lasting (seeing as the PM would be dual, have more expansion, ect.) On the other hand, the PB seems nice as I travel, and the imac might work ok for what I need (seeing as I would be going from a g4 now anyway...) How does the 12"ibook vs 15"PB battery life/overall portability compare? Many artists, even aphex/electronica, seem to use the PB fine for thier work so I might squeek by with just that (which would be ideal,) but seeing as I crash my G4 800 now with the most basic plug-ins I had previously doubted anything but a G5 dual would suffice 🙁 Interestingly, with the Edu discount/amazon rebate at least the price of an imac(17")+PB(15") is almost exactly equal to the cost of a PM(2.0dual)+iBook(12") !! Help, which to get!!???
😕 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕
Just to explain why I need both so soon(!) -I had just sold my notebook (g3ibook) in planning to rely pretty much on my g4 desktop until something new came along, but now the desktop's on the fritz (hdd, cd drive, ect.) so now I need both a desktop and a mobile! Also, I already have a monitor so that's no advantage of the imac for me. Thanks for any info!
[ibook G4 1.2 [$900(+$99 for ram upgrade)]& PM 2.0/combo ($2300)=$3300 OR iMac G5 17"/combo ($1300) + PB15" 1.5 [$2000]=$3300.]
