It would, however a much easier route is to install a USB PCI Card such as this one (I dont know your location, so Ive linked to a US Model) http://www.sonnettech.com/product/allegro_usb2.html inside your PowerMac G3 Beige, as it gives you USB ports internally. (Installation Instructions would be in the book you got with the machine when you bought it if your an original owner/have the documentation, or they can be found by googling "PCI Install G3 Beige" or similar - Im pretty sure its an easy process for anybody with a screwdriver :) )

The value of upgrading a computer that's at least 11 years old, and may be as old as 13, is really quite questionable. The price of the card exceeds the monetary value of the computer itself. I'd strongly consider switching to a newer computer which has USB built in.

Maybe she/he would like to transfer most of her files from the old Beige G3 to newer external drive that is why she needs a USB card.

Is there any external case that could support a SCSI drive?

If you want to have USB in your G3, you could buy cheapest PCI USB card based on NEC chipset. It should work plug and play under OS 9.1 and later, or with this software update http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1238?viewlocale=en_US under OS 8.6 to 9.0.

I found a USB port which can be used in the old
G3 running OS 8.6. That was from Amazon.com. It said it was new. It was $11.00. I downloaded the driver from
Apple's web site. I will put it in my computer as soon as it arrives and thank you again for answering my stupid questions.
This computer has quite a bit of graphics software which I could not afford to replace at this point and the computer is really fast enough for my current graphic needs. I just need a way to get files to service bureaus or to transfer when I get a newer one some day.
