I'm trying to get a setup for app dev and just purchased the latest iPod touch 32G from Amazon. I searched the specs and can't seem to get solid answers about the difference between iPod/iPhone

I understand the still camera is much weaker for some reason (but the vid cam is same), no GPS, no Phone, less ram, less battery.

The less ram and battery is ok since it doesn't use it for phone stuff. No GPS I can live with.

What's not clear is the bluetooth and accelerometer. I can't get by without those as they would both be part of some of the apps I have in mind.
Is anyone actually using an iPad for programming?
Thanks, KarlJay.

Edit: ok, so Wiki says it has both bluetooth and accelerometer, but another says the touch interface is different, ok BUT is the touch interface programmed the same?

Gyro + Accelerometer. Smooth moves.
iPod touch just learned some new moves. It now includes a built-in three-axis gyroscope. When paired with the accelerometer, the gyro makes iPod touch capable of advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, full 3D attitude, and rotation rate. Translation: More motion gestures and greater precision for an even better gaming experience.

BT support.

Since you can't compile on the iPad, it seems a bit pointless to develop "on it", you can certainly use one to test your code on.

Thanks for the link!
from the looks of it, I think this should work just fine.

In reading some of this, I wonder how does the iPod Touch do the 'Find my iPod' without GPS ?

Triangulation from visible WiFi networks and a database like Skyhook/Loki.
