hi guys

i was wondering with todays state of the art cooling what would be the max speed i could get out of a pci powermac g4 yikes the jumper settings allow it to go to 800mhz is this possible had a look at x8lleratemac.com but posts are old !!!

what do you think !

how far can i go without frying cpu and how ?

How fast you can go is somewhat dependant on what PowerMac model and what CPU(s) it has.

Sometimes, it's better to just buy a CPU upgrade for a PowerMac G4 instead of trying to overclock it.

In the case of a Yikes, I would overclock it, and overclock it good. ;)

Have some fun with it. Whip out the soldering iron and mount like 16 fans in there... you might need another power supply though...

i take it deferra is ribbing me i will try overclock it to 500mhz but i agree thats its better to toss a upgrade card in it rather than do something the processor was not designed to do !!

anyone have any data sheets to state whats the yikes processor mhz limits are !!
