Hey Everyone,
I have just bought new external screen for my macbook. The display is Samsung Syncmaster BX2350 and its optimal resolution is 1920x1080. I connected it through VGA cable with adapter to my macbook. However, even though image quality is sharp, I get that image size cannot stretch through all the length of the screen, so I get a black frame from left and right side of the external screen. I have read about the issue and it said that there are some issues with graphic card.
My graphic card is: Intel GMA X3100
Maybe there are any ways to resolve problem?

The X3100 can do 1920 x 1200 on an external screen.

Have you checked System Preferences > Displays yet and seen what resolution is selected for the external screen, and if System Preferences > Displays >> Arrangement >>> MIRROR DISPLAYS is UN-checked?

It is unchecked. I am having on my macbook resolution of 1280x800, whereas on external display 1920x1080, but the problem as I have tried to explain above: somehow image on the external screen does not use all the pixels in it. So I get an inch from left and right of black frame. So the image that I get is rather compressed and I am puzzled how to resolve this problem.
To express myself a bit clearer I am attaching a picture:

any suggestions?

p.s. I tried switching resolutions, that only distorts the quality of image, even though with 1680x1050 resolution is fullscreen. ;/

might be this a case, as 1920x1080 resolution is hardly supported via VGA cable?
