So I ordered an 11" MBA from the refurb store on Tuesday, and I am expecting delivery either tomorrow or Saturday. Now I am thinking about a bag to go with the new machine.

I am a college student, and I currently use a North Face Wavelength. The laptop compartment fits up to a 15", and I do use it to carry around my 15" MBP when I need it.

I have already decided on getting either the Moshi Muse sleeve or the Booq Viper (depends on how big a bag I end up getting):

http://store.moshimonde.com/muse-11-gray.html
http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products/Vyper-hard-laptop-cases/Viper-11-macbook-air-case

but I still need to decide on an actual bag. I could continue using my backpack, but I've wanted to switch to using a messenger for a while. Now, I'm eyeing a Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger, but I'm wondering if having such a small machine in a large bag will work against me. Usually, I have 2-3 notebooks, a couple folders, and a binder with me, so I need the bag to be able to hold all of that and the Air.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, and I'd welcome any other bag suggestions (preferably somewhat water resistant bags though).

Just got mine, my MBA 11.6 ultimate is live and kicking ass.
This thing boots up less than 11 seconds and I am impressed.
My next purchase will be 27 inch iMac.

Anyway, I recommend viper from booq for your sleeve. It protects well against the drops. Moshi? Not so much. The thing is very slim. It will protect from scratch, but not drops.

Yeah I was leaning toward the viper, but it's also a very thick and large case. If I get a bag that can hold the Viper, sure, Viper it is. But the Moshi would purely be for protecting from scratches, if I were to get a smaller bag that wouldn't be able to fit a Viper. Any thoughts on a new bag?

There are way too many to consider.

Here are my two favorites.

1. Muzetto bag from water field.

2. Bomber jacket bag from Levenger.

You are a student, so your needs might be different from mine. Good luck.

I bought the moshi muse a few days ago, it's ok.. but wish it was more fitting and a bit thicker though.

I thought the muse fit the MBA pretty well (based on some reviews). Is that not true?

I have a Muse for my 11" and I think it fits pretty well. I have no complaints.

Do you know any brick and mortar stores that have it? I'd like to get a feel for it before I buy.

I got the Be.ez one on Amazon for 30 bucks shipped. Made perfectly for the 11". It's made of a fairly stiff foam-like material so it should be at least decent with drops, while staying fairly thin and light. I had one with my 15" MBP as well so that's why I didn't hesitate to get one from them again.

I own the Viper. It's small enough to slip in a bag, or if you are just out for a while to carry with you. Can't beat Booq for bags!

Here's what I think I am going to do:

1. WRAPSOL (http://www.wrapsol.com/)
2. Radtech (http://www.radtech.us/Products/SleevzNotebooks.aspx) sleeve (i already have)
3. Waterfield Muzetto 11" Air Bag (http://www.sfbags.com/products/muzetto/muzetto.php)(Green with Tan Leather)

Video on Muzetto Bag: Muzetto Bag I am gonna order (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qco2ng7zd7Y)

The Muzetto's are expensive but you get what you pay for and Waterfield bags are made in San Francisco and are the best IMHO. These bags are also on backorder now and expected to start shipping the end of Feb.

I think with these 3 combination's you will have scratch protection, ease of use, no bulkiness, style, quality and drop protection all in one. If you really want protection you can also order a Waterfield Sleeve (http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleevecases/sleevecases.php) to go in the Muzetto. Hope this helps you!

I have the Muzetto leather bag and let me tell you, it is worth EVERY PENNY...one of the finest made products I've ever purchased...just beautiful...I have several different sleeves (some thick and heavily padded as the one in the last pic, and a few very thin neoprene ones) and even with the thickest I can still pack plenty into that little bag...I'd buy it again in a heartbeat...gets lots of people asking where I bought it as well...

I am very interested in knowing what else can fit in the bag with the 11" air.
I would need to fit:
trackpad
2.5 external hard drive
magic trackpad
extra dvi cord (bulky)
dvi adapter plug
iphone

will that all fit? I am most concerned about the dvi cord...

Right now, with a moderately padded neoprene sleeve on the MBA, I have in the bag:
Sony TX9 Cybershot Camera in leather case and charger with two batteries
2.5" External drive in pleather case with USB cable
MBA Charger and extended AC cable
CaseLogic 6 USB Thumbdrive case
Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones in soft case
Several SD cards
and there is room for my iPhone 4...

If you don't use a sleeve at all there will be even more room...:)

Wow that bag does look really nice. Do you think with the MBA in a sleeve the bag would be able to fit 2-3 school notebooks? If it does then I'm sold.

I do believe it would...I'm constantly surprised at how much I can fit in this little bag as there are large and deep pockets in front and behind the computer compartment...:)
Last I read though, there was a decent wait for these...

I can't speak for those that don't "want" to spend that kind of money for a bag (and I can certainly understand that thinking) but I CAN tell you, IMO as far as the quality and workmanship of the bag it is definitely worth the $219.00...apparently, judging from the waiting lists for the bag there are others of like mind...
Again, I get those (especially young people and students that simply cannot afford to) that say they don't want to spend near that much on a bag (although I pay no mind to those making statements like "it's insane" or "it's ridiculous" to spend that much on a bag  )...
If you have the money and like the bag, get it...if not, don't...:)

...our base PX was blowing out Sony PS2 carrying cases for $7 and since they are made for carrying controllers, the system, etc... I picked one up and it fits the MBA 11", my external HDD, logitech number pad and mouse, BT KB, etc... all with ease and protects it well = I like messenger style bags and this was a good deal:p
