Quick recap of my story:
- I heard the first G5 Powerbook story and got rid of my G4 PB. (regret it now)
- Got an iPod mini as a gift. (I thought I could still use my mom's PC to feed it)
- My sister's 3G iPod gave her problems, so she gave it to me. (Yes, she is so tech-illiterate its hard for her to use an iPod even) [Now, I got 2.]

My problem: (Windows XP Home SP1, iTunes 4.7.1, iPod Updater 11-15-04) I feed my iPod with tunes bought from iTMS. So far, I purchased 50 songs. 300 or so tracks trapped on my old Mac hard drive. (I choose not to explain.) My mini synced fine first time. But when I buy one more track and sync just that one more track to my mini, iPod mounts, appears in iTunes, song syncs, but when it comes to that moment when "iPod update is complete" should appear, BSOD and computer restarts. HELP ME!!

My sister's problem: (Windows XP Home SP2, iTunes 4.7, iPod Updater 11-15-04) 3G 10GB iPod mounts, appears in iTunes, all 800 or so songs she has sync okay and iPod ejects with no problem. But when Play button is pressed on iPod, no songs/playlists exist on iPod. When she clicks Settings --> About, 0 songs but the equivalent space is taken up. Help Her, Please and I might get her to take her iPod back.

maybe a "restore"? (from the ipod updater) i really dont know though..you will loose your songs by the way, so copy them off first.

or get a mac... ;) :D

Is your iPod charged?

I tried feeding an iPod on window once and it died halfway through. Crashed the comp.

Just an idea. :o

once on my imac it would crash whenever i connected my ipod, the solution was to run the disk utility and do a verify and repair of the ipod, a restore would probably do the trick too
good luck

Thanks for all your advice. I took it all into account and decided to do the following: Get A Mac!

Got a job all set to start in the summer and maybe grab up an iBook with my earnings. Until then, however, I have something to tide me over.

There I was walking down the street when I saw it. A G3 iMac thrown away and left next to the trash cans. I quickly picked it up and brought it home. I dried it off (it was raining) and left it so all the rain inside would dry as well. PLugged in a power cord and VOILA! full boot up complete with chime, just needs OS install now.

Here are the specs: 233MHz G3 processor, 32MB RAM, 4GB HDD, 24x CD-ROM and modem. It doesn't have Firewire but its got 2 USBs, modem and ethernet.

The iPod problems are over, now I have a G3 iMac situation. Would I be able to run OS X on this? Where would I need to go if an upgrade is necessary?
