View Full Version : Installing SSD gave my MBP seizures?

Hello, ye helpful MacRumors netizens!

Recently, I replaced the old OEM HDD in my Macbook Pro (A1229) with an SSD (OCZ Agility 64GB). I then swapped out the superdrive for the regular (now wiped) HDD.

Everything seems to be in working order - and wicked fast! - but now OS X will occasionally seize up for about 5 seconds every so often, though seemingly only when I'm typing, because when un-sticks, the key I was pressing when it froze is repeated 4-8 times. Keys pressed during the mini-seizure do not get input. So, for example, if it froze while I was hitting the x in "for example," it would look like:

for exxxxxx

So, does anyone have an idea what might be causing this? Do you think it's the SSD causing the problem, or is it possibly something I did when taking the MBP apart and putting it back together? Any advice how to troubleshoot something like this?

How did you format the SSD? Is it formatted for OS Extended?

Is there anything incriminating in your system log? Run the Console application and look for suspicious activity right around the time that it locked up.
