I've got an m4v movie that I'd like to extract the audio from and make it playable in iTunes and on an iPod shuffle. Is this possible and if so how would I do it?

Cheers!

Open the file in QuickTime 7 install it from the mac os x installer cd if your on snow leopard and only have QuickTime x. Then go to movie properties in the window menu then click the sound track and click extract. This will
Create a mov file with only audio which would need to be converted. Or if you have QuickTime 7 pro in file you can export the movie and jus export the sound to an aiff file.

Thanks very much, this worked perfectly, my son can now sing along to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat to his hearts content now!

I already had QT7 pro, I'd forgotten about it though. It created the AIFF file on my desktop as you described, then I imported it into iTunes, converting it to AAC at the same time by using the 'advanced' menu, pressing option then selecting convert to AAC.

Thanks again!

Look for an app in the App Store called "WannaAudio"

By a mile the easiest way to do it.

Simply drop the file on it. Done.

Enjoy.
