US applications on a UK mac

I am new to the world of Macs and was wondering, if I buy a laptop in the UK but get some software from the US, will it all work together?

In particluar, would there be any problems caused by the different DVD regions of the UK and US?

Any help would be appreciated.

a programme bought in the US will work fine.

with regards to dvd, when you first use dvd player you have to select your region and it can only be changed like 5 times before it is fixed but i have seen a programme somewhere which will get around this but it voids the warrenty i beleive. i also think there are other players that will work though.

I'd buy the Laptop in the US too..you#'ll be ripped off over here.
