I am trying to help a friend who bought a new Apple TV streaming box. He has a wireless network via a Linksys router that also connects his iMac via a wired Ethernet connection. The Apple TV is up and running fine wirelessly via the Linksys. Once he saw that work, I wanted to show him how the Apple TV could display iPhoto slideshows and also iTunes playlists from his iMac. We turned on Home Sharing on the iMac, but the Apple TV does not see the iMac. I am assuming the Linksys provides a "common network" which should permit the wireless AppleTV to link to the wired iMac, but for some reason I can't get the Home Sharing to work. Any ideas?

Yes it should work as long as they are on the same network. I've seen where some Linksys routers block certain traffic by default that prevents Airplay from working so as a last resort you might want to change up the settings in the router.
