MacConnection is offering 256MB of RAM free after rebate (plus $39.95 installation, which you can get them to waive by telling them you'll install it youself).

The iMac comes with 256 standard, and the free 256 upgrade would make the RAM total 512 MB.

What I want to know is: Do they just add a free 256MB stick and use up both slots, or do they substitue the 256 standard for a 512 stick.

MC's price on the iMac is $1294. If you look at the link, the price for the iMac with RAM upgrade is $1452.95 before rebate. That's a difference of $158.95 It seems like that would be a price for a 512 MB stick.

Anyone here buy an iMac from MC with the RAM upgrade? If so, which way is it?
