Despite previous comments against an ongoing Mac port (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/08/20020805082838.shtml) of Unreal Tournament 2003, Inside Mac Games (http://www.insidemacgames.com/news/story.php?ArticleID=6226) confirms that a port is being done in house.

No other information is currently available.

Check out the requirements listed on the official web site (http://unrealtournament2003.com/?faq):

Operating System: WIN 98/ME/2000/XP
CPU: Pentium III or AMD Athlon 733MHz processor (*Pentium® or AMD 1.0 GHz or greater RECOMMENDED)
Memory: 128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM or greater RECOMMENDED)
Hard Disk Space: 3 GB
CD ROM or CD/DVD ROM: 8X
Audio System: Windows® compatible sound card (*Sound Blaster® Audigy(tm) series sound card RECOMMENDED) (NVIDIA® nForce™ or other motherboards/soundcards containing the Dolby® Digital Interactive Content Encoder required for Dolby Digital audio. Also RECOMMENDED)
Video System: 3D Accelerator card with 16 MB VRAM (*32-128 MB VRAM RECOMMENDED) 16 MB TNT2-class DirectX® version 6 compliant video card. (*NVIDIA GeForce 2/ATI Radeon RECOMMENDED) DirectX® version 8.1 (Included on game disc)

Now, I'm not surprised that there's no Mac stats listed, since there's no official Mac port in the works, but... 3 *gig* of drive space needed? 1 gig cpu recommended? 32 meg of video? Wowsers, this is gonna be a big, bad game... and I doubt that my poor old G3/266 w/ g4/400 upgrade and a 16 meg video card that's playing UT right now is gonna cut it :(

No it probably will die under the heavy load of the new more realistic graphics. I had a B/W G3 400 with an ATI Radeon and it barely chugged Unreal Tournament. I doubt there will be any problems with my new system though. A Dual Ghz/DDR 1 gig ram and as soon as they release the ATI 9700 it will have that too.:D

I'm just so shocked that Epic is doing the port themselves. They never seemed the least bit interested. I guess Westlake is way too busy. If Epic is truly encouraged, maybe they'll do more and get other PC developers interested by their success. :)

:D Maybe they are taking the example from ID software, Now if only that would set a trend.

and all mac games would be released at the same time as pc games. (that'll be the day)

indeed - but I hold my breath - epics mac support has been legendary for teh wrong reasons, but given that ut2k3 is almost as delayed as, well, a g5 chip, maybe the relases of pc and mac will be simutaneous? :) I can hope... Actually, this has just annoyed me - I was seriously thinking about switching from a mac to a pc for this game alone, and now they screw up my excuses for being disloyal! arghh!!

;)

(p.s.I'll whup anyone here when it ships.. :)
