200/220 GB Classic--Think we will See it?

What do you think? Obviously Toshiba released a series of drives in 160/200/220 GB capacities which are basically direct drop-ins on the iPod Classic assembly line.

Completely ignoring the tightened supplies of the Classic that we were seeing temporarily a couple weeks back, do you think we will get either a 200 or 220 GB Classic?

I hope so. Even more would be better.

I want to avoid having to switch between several iPods when I want to change tunes.

More storage will always be wanted. Although I am a bit skeptical .. 55% no, 45% yes

I hope they keep the classic and if they do a storage boost makes sense now that the bigger single platter drives are now available.

With apples reluctance to boost capacities for some time now I'm not sure. Its so ridiculous that the iTunes store is so big as it is but apple is refusing to give any device decent space to actually hold a good amount of the stuff especially when it comes to video.

The only one that even comes close to serving this purpose is the classic which is so behind feature wise and stuck in the same capacity since 2007.

Larger capacity single platter hard drives which will fit inside the current iPod classic case have only just been released.

I'm a bit skeptical about it. The 160 is more than enough. I've filled mine with several movies, pictures and not to much all the music i have on it. Still haven't broken the 100GB mark!!

Love my iPod classic! :D

Well, I've been hoping for a bigger iPod Classic for a while now. After my most recent musicboomerang (http://www.musicboomerang.com) transactions, I've blown past, waayyy past, the 160 GB mark. And that's just music- no movies, videos or pictures.

However, people (at least me) will still need a long battery media player. I see the iPod Touch as an alternative and not the primary thing. The Classic is still *the* music device.

Since I converted most of my fav music to lossless my library is about at 200GB. I've been waiting for the 250GB for a while.

Seagate made a 250 a few years ago that would have worked but Apple just had to make the iPod thinner so we went backwards. LAME. I can't even list all the things Apple failed at in the last 5 years anymore...

If Apple wants to know why the 120 and 160 didn't sell like they should have, myself and four of my friends have been waiting for greater storage for years now, and we refuse to waste money on the 160.

They had a 200 before... how many people want a larger capacity iPod vs. a thinner iPod? Apple is pretty dumb these days...

I wouldn't mind if it went back to the thickness of my 2007 160GB classic. It's also got the bigger battery which lasts for 50+ hours.

Oh, I thought it was self explanitory since there hasn't been an update to the Classic since 2007 plus the fact Jobs EXCLUDED the Classic when he said last year that all iPods were being updated.

Why on earth would I think the iPod Nano and Touch are dead. That's crazy talk since they were just updated and will continue to be.

I didn't read the whole thread - so maybe I'm missing something, but could you explain who 'people like you' are who need THAT much battery life?

If you're on the road, I can't think of any trip that would be 36 hours straight... and if it were - wouldn't you have your computer or USB power adaptor for the car?

If you're flying, even trans continental, is it really 2 days in the air? and if it is - wouldn't you have your computer or power readily near you?

If you just listen to it in the car w/ a tape adaptor, is it really that big of a deal to bring it inside once a week and recharge it?

Isn't it possible to swap drives pretty easily in an iPod? Is the i/o interface the same on these new drives?

Right now I'm staying with my 5.5G but if Apple came out with a 220 GB that stored HD movies I would buy one.
