After reading some blogs and forums i m very confused if i should use Secure Erase for my Macbook Air. Some people say it s bad for the SSD drive is this true.

Also i ve read that the FileVault option is an increase of security of the Macbook but does this slow it down or harm the SSD drive ?

I am no Tech guru, but I did erase empty memory from utilities 2x, when I first got it and a week later. Both times I had power up issues of taking over 30 seconds. I was on the phone with apple the first time. I had to re-install OS in order for it to get back to normal. I was not sure that this was the problem the first time, and thought it might of came out of the box like this. But after the 2nd time, the puzzle became more clear.
