Anyone from Ireland on here?

Anyone going to hit the Belfast store on launch day?

Planning on getting down there early with my brother.

Still a few weeks to go yet but it should be a laugh, never been in a que outside a store before.

I'll probably come down if I've sold my 16GB 3G by then so I can pick up a new one…if not, then I might just come down and have a look...

Not sure what time really haven't planned it with my friends yet. Whats the best time to be sure to get one before they run out?

I have no friends going down with me, so I may need someone to watch my space while I pee?

I don't know as yet. I'm thinking around maybe head about about 12 see what the queue is like, grab a bite to eat then queue up if its a 5pm launch? If it's a 9AM launch probably around 5AM?

That's my cards on the table... see you that your there 30 mins before to get ahead of me! lol

Assuming the 5pm launch time's accurate, I'll probably be heading down around 2-ish. Unless I can talk myself out of the need to buy another expensive new gadget first.

Who am I kidding... :D

I really can't make it down till 4pm - for the iPhone 4 I started queuing at 9:30am and wasn't out until 2:30pm. I was supposed to be at work and was freaking out someone would see me! I stayed hidden when flipping UTV cameras turned up!

I really don't want to be queuing that long this time - hoping it won't be as busy as the iPhone 4 launch. Though I believe there were computer issues connecting with O2 first thing that morning plus people had to switch/sign up for contracts so on average would take a lot longer for the iPhone than iPad.
Was anyone else there?

Any chance one of you nice people will post updates (queue size) to this thread on the day? I'll do the same when I get there for anyone coming even later than me.

Getting the 16GB in Black with the Black Leather Smart Cover and possibly the HDMI adaptor if they have it in stock.

Fair play indeed! After the iPhone 4 launch I swore I wouldn't queue again - did anyone hear of anyone who queued on a launch day and didn't get an iPad/iPhone?
I originally said I'd be going down at 4pm and now it keeps getting earlier in my head - will wait and hear what the queue situation is like. If I was off work I'd be there from lunchtime.

Last year to collect my iPhone 4 pre-order I joined the queue at Top Shop and it snaked across to the other side of the shopping centre and then back to the Apple Store. Took 4.5 hours (though it was for iPhone 4 - people signing contracts etc).

Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know what stock will be like in non-Apple stores in Northern Ireland?

When the 1st iPad launched I got it on the first day in PC World and they said there had been no queues at all.

joesploggs
Mar 25, 2011, 05:41 AM
No idea on stock level but you know it's only the Sprucefield PC World and Currys that are stocking them. If you find out let us know.

Other shops stocking are Argos outside Victoria Square and HMV in Donegal Arcade - there may be others... that's all I know. Could be tempted to call in with them both first before checking out the Apple queue this afternoon.

I finish work in Hillsborough at 5:30pm so I'll be driving past Sprucefield anyway so I'll call in there. There's an Argos there too I can check out.

If they are the only ones stocking them then I'm sure they got enough stock... hopefully....

Just to save you time I wouldn't try the argos - from the looks of this site (Click "selected stores"):

the only Argos selling iPads (though this is for the iPad 1) is Belfast Rosses Court.

Yep, great fun today, met some nice people and had a laugh updating the blog at ipad2queue.co.uk, the queue was still stretching right back to House of Fraser when I left the Apple Store.

The Apple guy who served me said there was loads of iPads in stock so even if you head down tomorrow you will get one.

Downloading the new software and sticking some tunes on my shiny 32GB Black WiFi....woohoooo.

Mar 25, 2011, 03:41 PM
Yeah I could see you a few up the queue from me - you seemed to be having good craic. The ones around me in the queue were fairly quiet but everyone got a bit more excited once they got their tickets.

Full marks to the apple staff - I even got a 2nd coffee right before I went into the store... was very impressed!

Seemed to be plenty of stock - I went for 16Gb Black Wifi but could be tempted to change to a 32Gb before the 14 days are up.

With regards to the iPad - photos, videos, web pages, games all look amazing on it. I'm a happy chappy tonight!

No other source have any, but I did talk to one of the Apple Staff and they said that they MAY be getting more in on Monday and people wishing to buy them needs to call ahead, they open at 09:30 and there phone number for ease is 028 9016 1900

But it may only be a few of each model so you have to be quick.

If you are able to hold off then do so as the EPP will be coming into play soon. But just ask anyway as Apple UK Store online had the discount active last night, but off today.

Good Luck.

http://reserve.apple.com/WebObjects/ProductReservation.woa/wa/reserveProduct?lang=en&country=GB&prelaunch=MC770B_A

They have now sold out again and man the site was slow as anything. 9pm everynight you can reserve them. Points you have to just pick the model and then the time, if your 10 sec lag on deciding the time you want to pick it up it will timeout on you.

I'm assuming they are onsale at 8am rather than 5pm last year. I plan on going down around 7am- based on my experience with the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 launches I expect there to be a massive queue but no problems with stock until the next day.
If I'm lucky I hope to be done by around 10am.

Hopefully with the pre-sales the queues might be reduced a bit- although I pre-ordered and got the delay email. Really want the iPad on Friday and next Tues doesn't suit me for waiting in for a delivery.

Just got my tickets, the folder is bulging with them, either that is clever marketing to make us think they have loads in stock or they actually have LOADS in stock.

Que has now reached the other bridge and is crossing back over it.

It's was still right round to House of Fraiser when I left the store, I was in an out within 10 minutes. Just arrived home and about to set mine up.

Got mine at PC World in Sprucefield this morning.

Turned up at 845am and was 11th in the queue.

Guy said they have 120 iPads in stock. Just in case any of you don't get the model you want at Apple. Although stock seems to be fine this year.

Any idea if they had the new Apple TV at PC World?

Totally forgot to buy one at the Apple Store and PC World is much closer to me.

I was down at the apple store at lunchtime. There was no queue for iPads and the girl I spoke to said there was plenty of stock. I was buying the Apple TV. PS I wrote this using the new dictation tool- not bad.
