I have just acquired a 300 tangerine Ibook. I am installing 256 of ram which is max according to Mactracker. My question is will OSX run OK on this machine with only 256 ram.
All help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!

Well... I have a friend who has an original iBook. If it still has the original hard drive, then OSX will literally fill the entire hard disk. It will also be very slow and you'll pretty much be only able to surf the web, instant message, email, that sort of thing. For that type of usage it would be usable. For anything else... run OS9. Also, I do believe you can actually install more RAM than Apple's quoted max.

How do you connect to the net with OS9 I have never spent much time on that platform.
Please help
Also where can you find a larger stick than 256 of SDRAM PC100
Thanks

do a google search for pc100 ram, there should be plenty out there

it's easy to connect to the internet on OS9. in your system or utilities folder there should be an internet setup assistant. just run this program and you'll be on the net in no time.

check here (www.memoryx.net/pc100memory.html ) for ram

run 9

don't mess with X on that machine, it'll drive you nuts.
