Hey guys,

I've been reading up on the benefits of using scratch disks with Photoshop CS5. A lot of them state that you should use a drive seperate from the OS/software - but in most forums people are talking about their Mac Pros and other 'fast' computers in which they have multiple hard drive bays (and all drive via SATA).

I use the MacBook in my sig (80% RAM allocation in photoshop) and have a WD 2TB 3.5" external drive that I believe is 7200RPM via USB.

The question I am ultimately pondering is whether or not I should use a partition on my external, rather than my internal drive. While SATA is way faster than USB 2.0, it is also the drive w/my software and OS. Will I notice a performance increase if I switch my scratch disk to external?
