My previous mac was a 2009 13" MBP. After debating for weeks whether to get an MBA,low end 15", high end 15", SSD no SSD, I am completely happy with my purchase: 15" 2.2 HR glossy 750 GB 5400.

First of all, I'm experiencing no issues at all besides a minor issue in starcraft that is fixed when I turn off automatic graphic switching. Running beautifully.

This thing is blowing me away. Besides the screen upgrade (my screen-space feels like an iMax experience compared to the 13"), this thing is running HL2 EP2 at 2048x1152 all high settings (ext monitor) in OSX. It plays starcraft 2 at high settings. PS4 loads way faster. Best part of it is, with SATA 6Gbs get cheap enough, I'm ready plug on in. I'm a musician and play live shows with my laptop... again, it's a whole new experience working on a laptop for music.

I made this post to offset all the whiney people on here... it's a great machine people! you will be happy for those people on the fence!

Imagine how happy I'll be when mine comes... I'm going from a 2007 15" to a 2011 15"!

It left Anchorage a couple of hours ago! :)

nice to see positive comments I'm also planning one. Still yet to decide because of Retina and Ivy Bridge though...

I highly doubt the possibility of a Retina display, you would need a graphics card with like 4GB RAM to render so many pixels. Basically, the GPU technology is not advanced enough yet to power so many pixels.

When Ivy comes wouldn't there be a possibility 13 can have retina? For 15 or 17 it might be difficiult as you said. Anyway this is interesting, thanks for opinion

My base 15" runs HL2: ep2 at full res on my tv screen just fine. I'm really glad I didn't spend the extra $500 just for the 1GB graphics. Although it does build up quite a bit of heat.

I know how you feel. I went from an early 08' (wasn't that slow, had a 2.5GHZ Penryn) to a 2.2 quad 15" and what a difference.

Congrats! I just picked up a 13" high end to replace my 2007 15" MBP and seriously...I couldn't be happier. With the 8gb of RAM in this thing, I can run Skype, 10 tabs in Safari, word & excel, SPSS, iTunes, mail and transmission with absolutely NO hiccups. Glorious.

For 2d a 15 inch retina display could easily be powered by a 128 mb card.
My PowerMac G4 with 16 MB ram runs 1600x1200 res just fine.

For gaming you could simply just run at lower resolutions, and im sure non-native res would look awesome on a retina display

Completely agree with the speed part. I went from a 2006 2.0 ghz C2D to the 2011 2.2 15" with hi-res screen.

This thing is amazingly fast.

However, I got the "Yellow Tint" problem with my screen, so I'm returning it. BUT, no complaints regarding Apple's handling of the situation. I simply called them, got to talk to one of the "advanced tech's", and sent a picture so that he could confirm the problem. A nicer part about it is that the new MBP will be sent before i return this one, and have "priority one" so I don't have to wait the 7+ days it normally takes. So that cuts the days I will spend without being able to work on my new computer to a minimum.
