I have a discovery II and I can say that this was a difficult feat. The space is very limited on the dash and he should be very proud that he was able to do all this because information on the Discovery II is limited.

Good work

this is awesome. but why not stick a rack of xserves in the trunk with a power generator and a apple 30" screen mounted to the glove department for the passenger seat? (retorical question- :D )

I wonder how warm that glovebox gets after a few hours. I bet it's like a space heater in the winter.

Now all that needs to happen is for someone to do a clean install in their C230 so that I can copy them. I'm not gonna be the guinea pig. ;)

I plan to do something like that down the line... Using apple speakables, a 5.5" screen (I think I'll use a portable dvd player from ebay...), and the mac mini. I have a DC to AC converter, and It looks like I can power the mac mini from the car's outlet. Just put a bluetooth GPS system along with rewiring your car stereo, things just might work out! then again, this isn't happening anytime soon.

I can just see the day an automaker gives you an option to have a built-in Mac to check your email, run iTunes, DVD player, Mail, etc.... ;) :)

No need for an iPod in the car no more, just get the custom "Mac out your Wheels" option. :D

"Mac out your Wheels"! Awesome! Maya, if you aren't working (at least part-time) for a marketing company, you should be!

This reminds me of the Czech guy who installed a Power Mac G4 in his car (http://www.mujmac.cz/art/hw/tatra_mac_eng.html).

I can understand the geek factor. But would it not be easier to use a PowerBook?

Just a thought.

Well sure, but it would also be easier to listen to your iPod with headphones rather than try to hard wire it to your car's speakers.

Well ya, but that would have the unfortunate consequence of not being safe.

Not really when the iPod is connected to an Alpine iPod adapter AND a bitchin sound system. :D

That and its illegal in some states. You WILL get pulled over by the cops if they happen to catch you driving with headphones on at least here in MN they will.

It is indeed illegal in some places, but it is not illegal everywhere.
