when will G4 make it into ibooks?

i am getting impatient...thoughts on when apple has plans for this?

ibook, with its 300 mhz g3 chip, was originally announced in july, 1999...38 months ago and i got mine that december which feels like ages and ages ago, at least as far as high tech computer gear is concerned...i am sure i have a sweater in the closet i have not worn for three years:p

They won't do it unless they can somehow differentiate it from the Powerbook, so until it gets duals, a G5 or whatever, you won't see one in the iBook yet. :(

i think you are right

though i have no excuse to get a tibook any more than i have to get a porshce, dual ti would be nice if we won't be seeing a g5 powerbook for a long time

but then again, wouldn't dual tibook also take at least another year from now if g5 isn't to be seen on desktop machines until 2004, making a g5 tibook something to be seen no less than two years from now...that sounds depressing

somehow, it can't take that long, right?

The only thing I can think of in the meantime is that it gets a chip or somehow modifies the G3 to support Altivec. Other than that, we're going to have to wait.

Veronica's my stage name and its also my screen name at the Tech Pub. I added it after the Socialist message from the Comrades at Gateway thread.

And yes, there is at least one and she's related to one of our more colorful posters. ;)
