I am prepared to buy my new powerbook (1.5ghz 12" SuperDrive) but they are not in stock at any of the Apple Stores in CT. I calledFarmington and Danbury (1.5 hours away) to see if they had any but none of them do. On saturday Farmington said they should be in stock on monday. I called on monday and they said hopefully by the end of the week.
I'm going to be skiing in VT for the next few days so hopefully when i get back they will have them.

i've had the same problem. i sold my old wintel laptop today and i need another one to do work at home (my first mac!). the apple store in lennox, atlanta told me they'd get more today, but they haven't come in yet. i'm supposed to call again late this afternoon.
apparently the 12" super is the most popular model.

I've been waiting with credit card in hard to buy a 12" SD since they came out on January 31st. I want to buy from Amazon.com due to their returns policy, lack of CA sales tax and free shipping. They have been saying "in stock soon" for well over a week now :(
The only place I can find a 12" SD currently in stock is:
www.macmall.com
These places had them in stock last week:
www.macconnection.com
www.jr.com
But I chose not to buy due to the lack of a return policy (you must deal with Apple's warranty department if something is wrong on day one) or sales tax.
Or you could always order from Apple and wait, then hope you don't have any problems with the unit.
Waiting on Amazon :) Not in a hurry.

You should make your way to NH on your ski trip and avoid Mass "luxury tax." :)
Where in VT are you skiing? Maybe I can point you in a good direction...

I will be at my ski house on Okemo (Ludlow, VT). I looked into the NH store but according to Map Quest its 2.5 hours away.

I ordered my 15" CTO from apple on the 11th of feb. Still hasn't shipped. I'm a little ticked. 5-7 business days turned into ~12+ days. I called apple yesterday and they said, "Don't be surprised if your ship date is delayed. These are extremely popular right now."

Try Systems Plus Computers in West Lebanon, NH. That's not as far. They're an Apple specialist. I'm ordering a 1.67 ghz 15" powerbook from them and it's about to come in sometime this week. Check out http://www.systemsplus.com ....just an idea.

There's an Apple retailer (Mac Edge) in Keene, NH, which is less than an hour from Okemo. You may want to give them a call:

I got my iPod at their store when they were sold out everywhere else, so I know they are legit.

Have you tried CompUSA on Boston Post Rd? Sometimes they carry Macs, though, rev C and older models.

The sooner you order from Amazon, the further up in the queue you will be. If you wait for them to say "In stock now", you may be waiting a while. They could get a whole bunch in but never change the inventory status since those are all already spoken for because of pre-orders. Just a warning.

I know. But I hate ordering without a shipping date. There is also the matter of the old model PowerBook rebate expiring today (Feb 22nd). Amazon usually renews the rebates the day after they expire; I'm hoping they will offer the $150 rebate on the current model PBs. I'll find out tomorrow. :)

Also none in stock at Apple Stores here in San Francisco and the Peninsula. Have gotten various answers as to when to expect them: the end of this week, don't know, and hysterical laughter. My thing is, I've got to buy it at a Apple Retail store because I'm using an Apple Gift Card. Can't use it anywhere except at an Apple Retail store! *sigh*
