hello again,

i'm still looking around at what ibook to buy and checking the price of the ram memories.
one thing that is confusing me is that i still am not very clear on what kind of memories i can put in the ibook. does the same memory for powerbooks also works on ibooks? must it be those DDR2100 models, or DDR2700 also works? 200 pins, right?

thanks again

I believe its DDR2100 modules. Go here to figure out which ones you need. http://www.crucial.com/store/listmodel.asp?cat=RAM&mfr=Apple&productline=iBook

The MINIMUM speed for iBook RAM is DDR PC 2100 (200 pin) but DDR PC 2700 will work too but will automatically operate at DDR PC 2100 speeds.

thanks for the tips
i have this description
512MB DDR 2100 PBook G4 12"/ iMac G4 Flat 17"
and this one
256MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM (G4)

Both seem ok, but the second one only says (G4). does it mean it wont fit in notebooks? And the first one doesnt say iBook, only powerbook, but will it fit in the iBook anyway?

Thanks again

I would stick with something that says that its made for that particular laptop, or you know is the size that fits in the laptop. If they don't describe if further, then you need not buy it.

Right.. except Kingston does not guarantee their KVR- ValueRAM for use in Macs.
To answer your question tuggy: RAM that fits the Powerbook G4 12" will also fit the iBook.

I recommend only buying from a seller that guarantees Mac compatibility in writing. In the US I like Data Memory Systems www.datamem.com

Thanks
